Seagrass Stories: Ecology, Creativity, and Community Connections in Waterford’s Coastal Habitats

This is a collaborative exhibition and engagement initiative focused on the seagrass habitats of Waterford. Led by artist Sile Walsh and marine educator Tasneem Khan, in collaboration with Niamh Nolan (SETU), the project will showcase creative and scientific explorations of local seagrass meadows.

The exhibition will present tapestries created from ghost rope and netting which depict an expression of the seagrass meadows while simultaneously removing waste from our coastal systems, underwater photography, and creative responses developed through previous field workshops and personal practice that highlight the ecological and cultural importance of seagrass (e.g., carbon sequestration, biodiversity support, silt trapping).Add further detail about the work, the creative process, or the connection to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event takes place at Atrium, Cork Road Campus, Waterford. All are welcome and free to attend.
