Launch of SETU Sustainability in the Arts Festival 2026

Festival Launch

The launch of the 4th annual Sustainability in the Arts Festival celebrates the success of winning the National Forum inaugral Impact Award for education in sustainable development in 2025. This is in recognition of the focus on creativity and the arts which stimulate innovative approaches to embedding the principles of the SDGs in the university and wider community.

Speakers at the launch include: Ambassador David Donoghue who was involved in the original drafting of the global SDGs; Dr Helen Murphy - Head of Faculty of Education and Lifelong Learning; Dr John Barimo - head of SDSN Ireland; Dr David Ryan - Assoc. VP for Sustainability, and representatives from our international partners.

The launch will also include a live performance by music degree students and a group from Our Lady of Mercy secondary school. This is the culmination of an outreach programme focusing on creative interpretations of the SDGs. There will also be installations and digital exhibitions of work by visual art and graphic design students from SETU and a photography exhibition from international EU Conexus students.

Refreshments and cookies made from sustainable ingredients by culinary arts students will be served from 9.45 am. We look forward to welcoming you to this event.

The event takes place at Ground Floor, T&L Building, Cork Road Campus, Waterford. All are welcome and free to attend.
